A GC Christmas

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

It’s that time again at GC! Christmas time, that is. This Thursday we have a crazy GC Christmas Party Extravaganza planned!

Here are a few things you need to be aware of:
1) Your connect group should come dressed up in a “theme” together. (For example, figgy pudding theme or my dad was an ELF theme)
2) We are having a cookie bake-off! So bake your best cookie and bring it on!
3) We are going to have pictures with our very own ELF-Terns! (interns dressed like elves) They will be posted to the GC Gallery.
4) You, or your friends, will not want to miss it.

See you Thursday!

Self Less

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Less of self. That’s always a noble goal within the Kingdom of God. Living it out is not as always noble. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of selflessness. Many times throughout the scriptures we see amazing stories where Jesus dealt with people. Which, one would say, isn’t so selfless. Except that the bible consistently uses the word “all”, in relation to the people Jesus dealt with. In other words, He didn’t stop serving/ meeting the needs of people until ALL their needs were met. He healed them of every kind of sickness and disease, He cast out demons, He removed sin from their life until everyone of them were complete. He helped them ALL, until ALL was done. And then the bible says He would go and pray, ALL night.

We should be concerned not with our own needs on a day to day basis, as real as they are. But we should be concerned with God and the needs of others. What a perfect season and time in America to be focused on the needs of others! Let’s have a little less of self and more of others. Find somebody in need and help them.

Change

Saturday, November 22, 2008

There is lots of change coming to our world. Obviously, post-election change, global economic change, statewide change and (hopefully) personal change. One of the best things we can do, as christians, is change. What I mean by that is continually re-shape our lives to look more like Jesus. That all begins with good decision making.
If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, good, you have begun the first in a lifetime of good decisions. From that point on, our life has many opportunities to engage in good and bad decision making. (For some good revelation on how to make decisions see here.) Look for the audio with the subtitle, “decision making series”.

We have some decisions coming up in GC and I am asking you to pray and prepare for great change to assist us in reaching the million young people in our county. Listen again to the series and prepare your hearts. I am sensing the winds of change upon us.
